Climate-gate

Roughly two weeks ago an event of epic proportions took place. To my knowledge, the mainstream press has yet to report a word of information concerning this real “news maker.” Theoretically, it is their mission to root out, discover and present news, not filter it. If a story of this magnitude ‘escapes’ their attention, collusion would be highly suspected. The bulletin ran like a prairie wildfire across cable news, talk radio and the internet, leading one to conclude that ignorance on the part of the media heavyweights is very unlikely. There is no question that trainloads of propaganda float around cyberspace which lack serious documentation or deserve earnest discussion, but this volcano is of Mt. Saint Helens proportions. To ignore this eruption is to willingly risk the financial well-being of millions of Americans.

So what is the big buzz all about? A hacker broke into the computer files (61 megabytes worth) of the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit which is allegedly one of the epicenters of climate change studies. The thief absconded with 1079 emails, 72 documents and other materials. In a nutshell, these instruments reveal conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possible illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organized resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and how best to squeeze dissenting scientists out of the peer review process. In an exclusive interview with Investigate Magazines TGIF edition, Phil Jones, the head of the Hadley CRU, confirmed that the leaked data is real. Without apology to anyone, the liberal left of the scientific community have been engaged in deceit, deception and fraud. Declining temperatures for the past decade are irrefutable, and so the verbosity has been reinvented from global warming to climate change. Honest climatologists verify that weather is cyclical and always has been.

Three years ago my wife and I visited Mesa Verde in southwest Colorado. The remains of the cliff dwellings that housed Native Americans hundreds of years ago are quite fascinating. The remarkable ingenuity is overshadowed by evidence that they all packed up, almost in unison, and headed south. When our guide was asked to explain that unusual occurrence, he submitted tree ring corroboration. The trees support a 23 year drought which archeologists believe coincides with the departure of the Anasazis. I am not a scientist but occasionally a little common sense kicks in which says, “How could there have been that radical a climate change 600 years before cars, smokestacks, factories and aerosol cans?” It may have been those rotten campfires and buffalo gas.

Some have arrived at the incongruous conclusion that air pollution and global warming are intrinsically intertwined. Many of us are old enough to remember much worse gray hazes over American cities than exist today. Giving credit where it’s due, much progress has been made in that arena. In 1974 Time magazine devoted an issue declaring the threat of another ice age. If we are in a warming cycle, should we eliminate catalytic converters for a spell to get Mother Earth back in balance? Ivan Browning, an internationally known climatologist, was correct when he said, “Mankind is so impressed with himself that he is compelled to believe that he is a contributor, even if it’s in a negative way.”

The majority of the pundits believe this scandal is part and parcel with political leanings and aspirations. There are enough Al Gore wannabes to fill Noah’s ark, but politics are often deeply influenced by an even more sinister and covert force. The terrorists we fight are deeply religious when they lay claim to theological justifications for killing innocents. Could it be that eco-terrorists possess no more conscience than those who willingly plot the extinction of the Jewish people? Is it possible that the high priests of false science would attempt to lead an entire nation down the yellow brick road of special effects? Religious zealots are frequently wrong but no less committed to a cause that eventually lifts them to a crescendo of sanctimonious applause. To a terrorist, the end always justifies the means regardless of the immoral or depraved methods employed. Contaminated religion is usually the gas that powers that vehicle.

The ulterior motives of a religious cult have been exposed but most will fail to identify it for what it is. Its devotees do not assemble in steepled churches, synagogues or any other traditional houses of worship. The clergy of this crowd are often interviewed wearing their laboratory vestments of white coats bedecked with pocket pals. They appear so innocuous…why wouldn’t we trust them?

God weighs in with an opinion that confuses the Harvardites but makes perfect sense to us regular folks. The thesis of Romans 1:17-32 is that when humans fail to recognize the eternal power of the Godhead, their vanity redirects their intelligence into floods of foolishness. One of the more obvious symptoms mentioned is the worship of creation accompanied with a failure to acknowledge the Creator. God’s conclusion is: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to reprobate minds to do those things which are not convenient.” (Romans 1:28)

Now there is some indigestion that will deserve a whole roll of Tums.
