Food
For Thought
Just
Suppose:
Just
suppose the Lord would begin tomorrow to make people sick as
they claim to be on Sunday.
Just suppose the Lord should take away children whom the
parents use as an excuse for staying away from church.
Just suppose the Lord should make the people as poor as they
claim to be when asked to help finance his program.
Just suppose the Lord should have everyone stoned to death
for covetousness as was Achan.
Just suppose the Lord should let some parents look into the
future and see what their example and lax control did for
their children.
Just suppose - and then, by the help of the Lord, go forth
and live and serve as if eternity was soon coming. It is! "I
come quickly" (Rev. 22:21), says the Lord.
Man's
Power of Choice:
God has
no policeman to pass around and grab us by the neck and say
you must read you Bible, or you must go to Church, or you
must give to Missions. When God created man, He made man
superior to all other creatures. He gave man the power and
privilege of CHOICE. Up to now the Lord respects that
privilege. He will not force us. With that privilege of
CHOICE, goes the terrible responsibility of abiding by the
results or consequences of our choices.
I'm
Not Too Young:
I'm not
too young to sin, I'm not too young to die, I'm not too
little to begin A life of faith and joy.
I'm not too young to know The Saviour's love for me, In
coming down to earth below To die upon the tree.
I'm not too young to love, I'm not too young to pray, To
look to Jesus up above And all His Word obey.
Jesus, I love thy name; From evil set me free, And ever keep
Thy little lamb Who puts his trust in
Thee. (-Selected)
My
Boy's First Bible:
A
little boy's first Bible is the greatest thrill he's known.
There's sweet, unique excitement in a Bible all his own!
And yet my heart is smitten as this touching sight I see,
Has his reverence for that Bible Depended much on me?
As I see him with his Bible, I bow my head and pray, May he
always love that Bible The way he does today.
Then I hear a voice within me speak in solemn words and
true, how he cherishes that Bible Will depend a lot on
you.
I love my Bible better Since I've seen the beaming joy This
wonderful possession Has afforded to my boy.
May I seek to give mine daily A devotion he can see, For the
love he bears his Bible Will depend a lot on me. (-United
Presbyterian)
Mr.
Lo's Joy
A young
Chinese convert whose given name was Lo, became greatly
excited when he first read Matthew 28:20. As a newborn babe
in Christ, he took the word "lo" to apply to him personally.
Aglow with joy of his newly discovered partnership with God,
he exclaimed, "Look, missionary, it says, "Lo' I am with you
always!"

Statistics:
Dr.
M.R. de Hann once quoted these startling figures: "After the
age of 35 only one in 50,000 receives Christ; after 45 only
one in 300,000; and after 75 only one in 700,000 is
converted.
Out of 8,000 delinquent children, only 42 attended Sunday
School regularly. (J. Edgar Hoover)
My
Influence:
My Life
shall touch a dozen lives, Before this day is done,
Leave countless marks of good or ill, E'er sets the evening
sun.
This, the wish I always pray; Lord, may my life help other
lives, It touches by the way.
