Mordecai - A Type of Israel

 

I. Blood Line Connections - (2:5)

A. Perhaps kingly connections - (1 Sam. 9:1-2).

B. Benjamin shows up in the future (Phil. 3:4-5) ministering to the Church (Esther) thru adoption (2:7) - (Rom. 8:15, 21-24; Gal. 4:1-9).

C. Carried away with captivity (2:6)

[1]. Old Testament saint (Eph. 4:8-10).

D. So Benjamin has Old Testament connections, New Testament connections and Tribulation connections.

[1]. Paul is one "born out of due time" (1 Cor. 12:8).
[2]. Paul Persecuted the Church (Acts 9:4).
[3]. Christ appears to him (Acts 9:17; Zech. 12:10).

 

II. Israel has influence with the world -

A. "Mordecai sat in the gate" (2:19).

B. Mordecai saves the worlds bacon (2:21-23; Rom. 11:1,2,13,17,24).

 

III. Because Mordecai's refusal to worship the Anti-Christ (3:2) - Israel is persecuted (3:13)

A. In the midst of the Tribulation, Mordecai is honored (Chap. 6) - (Rev. 11:3-6; Dan. 3:30; 6:25-28).

B. After Anti-Christ is dealt with Mordecai is set over his house (8:1-2) - (Isa. 59:20-60:16).
