Twenty Eight Vs. 1
Vs. 3-9 (Mk. 16:16-18) Paul exhibits the signs of an apostle with a registered physician. Luke on board (Acts 27:1,2). Vs. 4 (Rom. 2:14) Vs. 6 "They changed their minds, and said he was a god." (Acts 14:13,19) Vs. 8 "Bloody flux" - dysentery
Vs. 11-16 The group winters there at Malta and when the weather begins to change, they board an Alexandrian ship whose sign (name, emblem) was Castor and Pollux, the Gemini Twins. Vs. 13 "Fetched a compass'' - sail a circular pattern. (Josh. 6:3,4,7,13,14) Vs. 15 "Appii forum" refers to a town on the Appian Way about 52 miles from Rome. Vs. 17-31 Paul wastes no time in Rome and immediately calls a meeting of the Jews. He begins to preach using his testimony as a starting point. Vs. 18 (Acts 26:32) Vs. 19 (Acts 23:11; 25:11) Vs. 20 "For the hope of Israel I am bound" (Acts 26:6; Isa. 26:17-19; Eze. 37, 24:15, 23:6) Vs. 22 "we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest", not what God said.
Vs. 23 (Acts 20:20,26) Persuading - see notes on (Acts 26:28) Vs. 25 "Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias" (2 Pet. 1:21; Heb. 1:1; 2 Sam. 23:2; Acts 1:16) Vs. 26 (Isa. 6:9,10) is quoted four times in the New Testament, (Rom. 11:8; Jn. 12:40; Matt. 13:14)
